Find a table, choose a beautiful piece of cake, order coffee or hot chocolate, and allow yourselves not to hurry.
Whether you are visiting Copenhagen on a honeymoon, celebrating something special, or simply spending a day together, it is a lovely place to begin.

Leave the busiest streets behind and make your way towards Frederiksberg.
Walk. Take the Metro. Ride a bicycle. Wander through Frederiksberg Gardens. The point is not to fit as much as possible into the day. The point is to enjoy being in it together.

The woven paper Christmas heart is one of Denmark’s most loved traditions. The oldest known woven heart was made by Hans Christian Andersen in the 1860s, and generations of Danish families have since woven hearts together for Christmas.
There is something rather lovely about two people sitting together and making one. You slow down. Your hands are busy. You talk. You laugh when the paper does not immediately do what you want it to do.
And eventually, two simple pieces of paper become a heart.
A real Ugly Duckli love story
A secret proposal, snow and their first Danish Christmas hearts
One of my favourite Ugly Duckli stories began with a man from Texas planning a very secret proposal in Denmark.
He secretly flew his girlfriend’s close friend in from England and, on a snowy winter day at Fredensborg Palace, asked the big question.
She said yes.
Afterwards, the newly engaged couple came to Ugly Duckli and wove their first Danish Christmas hearts together.
Their hearts became more than something made during a trip to Denmark. They became part of their own story, and a Danish tradition they could take home with them.

A Private Paper Heart Experience in Copenhagen
Today, I welcome private groups of 1 to 6 guests into my Ugly Duckli universe in Frederiksberg for a very personal two-hour experience.
We weave traditional Danish paper hearts, but it is not simply a craft class.
I share the story of the Danish Christmas heart and Hans Christian Andersen. We talk, weave, drink coffee or tea and enjoy a little Danish hygge together.
Everything is prepared for you, so you do not need any experience with paper weaving before you arrive.
And because the experience is completely private, it can be just the two of you.
